The 2009 Formula 1 season is nearly upon us. Race number one of the season is in Australia, on the 29th March.
This season is expected to be an exciting one, with the primary reason being the vast number of rule changes that have been implemented. A new, lower, wider front wing and a taller, thinner rear wing along with the return of slick tyres dominate the look of the new generation of F1 cars.
The following picture are taken from the AT&T Williams F1 website, which show the new look cars:
It is hoped that these measures along with other systems, like KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and adjustable front wings, will create more overtaking opportunities and better, closer racing. For a comprehensive run down of all the rule changes for 2009, F1 Fanatic has a set of articles that would prove useful
One of the other things that I am excited about is the return of the UK coverage of F1 to the BBC. The full details of how they will cover the races was revealed this week. They appear to be fully utilising all of their tools that they have at their disposal, I am particularly looking forward to is being able to watch any of the sessions over a race weekend, along with all the interactivity on the soon to be relaunched website.
All in all, I hope that the 2009 season is one to remember.

I’ve got a working Gallery/Photos Page.
Since beginning my blog, I’ve been trying to get a gallery of some description working, and to my liking. It’s taken a while, but I think that we’re there!
My first attempt was a manual one, which was very labour intensive, and lasted all of two minutes.
I then came across “Gallery 2“, and its associated plug-in for Wordpress, “WPG2“, which my friend Sam had installed on his blog. This was a vast improvement on the manual way that I had been doing things. But sadly, I couldn’t get it to integrate as I wanted to with my blog. Whether this was the theme I was using for my blog at the time, or just me not getting my head around “Gallery 2″ and “WPG2″. I soon gave up, as I didn’t have the patience or the perseverance at the time.
The next plugin that I came across was the NextGEN Gallery. On first impressions this seemed to be the answer to what I was looking for, but over time, it seemed to be a little more hard work updating albums and galleries etc.
But now, I’ve returned to Gallery 2 and WPG2. And everything seems to have fallen into place. The Gallery is integrating nicely with my WP theme. I think what has made the difference is that I installed one of the standard themes for Gallery2.
Over the coming days, weeks, or whenever I will update the gallery with some more of our photos. Hope you’ll enjoy them.
Ellie is at that age where some of the things that she says can have Gemma and I in pleats of laughter. Sometimes the laughter isn’t appropriate, but it is just so hard to keep it under control.
For example, the other day, Ellie was playing with her toys, and she let out the most enormous fart. (She’ll probably hate me for saying that in years to come!) Normally she will just smile and say “it was me!”, but on this occasion her response was classic:
“It sounds like a motorbike!”
That had Gemma and I in hysterics. Ellie is really coming out with some things at the moment.
Another example from a couple of weeks ago was when we were in the car. Ellie was messing around with some jars of Liam’s food, which I asked her to put down on a couple of occasions. She ignored me, so I took them out of her hand, and was greeted by her answering back,
“That is just SO rude!!”
Which was quickly followed by,
“You’re naughty, get up to your room!”
Well, you can imagine how we reacted. Try to stifle our laughter in the car was not easy. This was one of the ocassions when we really should not have been laughing, but we just couldn’t help ourselves!
These are just some of the magic moments you get as the kids are growing up. I can’t wait to hear what else she comes out with
Yesterday was the first real chance that Ellie and I have ever had to build a snowman. With the British weather being the way it is, we’ve never really had the chance before. Usually the snow has disappeared by the time we get to make one.
Here’s some photos :
All the snow has now disappeared from our area, and all that is left of our dear snowman is his body. With more snow forecast for the end of the week, we may be able to rebuild him.
