My Speech
Good Afternoon ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls.
I thought you’d like to know that I did have a really fantastic speech prepared, but now that we’re married Gemma has given me this one to do.
But I promise I’ll try to keep it short and sweet, as I know you’re all bound to be as hungry as I am!
I’d like to start by thanking you all for coming, on behalf of myself and my wife… (That’s got a lovely sound to it, don’t you think?)
I know some of you have travelled a fair way to be here today from the US, Cyprus, Scotland and Rhos! It means everything to us that our Family and Friends can share in our Big Day. And we also like to thank everyone of you for the wonderful gifts.
Sadly, not everyone can be with us today, but I’m sure that they are all with us in spirit and in our hearts, and looking down on us with a smile on their faces. So I’d like you to join with me in a toast -
“To absent Family and Friends!”
Now, it’s not often that someone gets to marry their soul mate.
Well, I can tell you that’s exactly what I’ve done today.
Gemma is the best thing to ever happen to me, she makes me so happy.
She is beautiful, smart, funny, a wonderful mum to our gorgeous daughter Ellie, and… I’ll have to stop there, as I can’t read her writing.
Seriously though, I mean all of those things from the bottom of my heart. You make me so happy, and I feel like my life is complete with you by my side. Right from the start I knew that you were the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
And if I may I’d like to quote from one of your favourite songs by Chesney Hawkes by saying You are the “One and Only“!
You’ve been there when I’ve needed a shoulder to cry on, and I am thankful for all of the support that you’ve given to me. I don’t know why, but you’ve put up with my jokes you’ve made me smile and laugh – which has got to be a sign that you love me! You are everything to me.
Now, I’m sure you’ll all agree with me about how stunning that Gemma looks today. I would share with you what I thought to myself when I saw her walking down the aisle, but as my Grandma’s here, but I won’t repeat those words in front of her as she thinks that I don’t swear!
I think a big thank you must go to Gemma for all her hard work in organising everything today, I’m sure you that you’ll agree that she has done a fantastic job. If I didn’t know how much work that she’s put into it, I’d have thought all of this organising lark would be easy. Thank you darling, its been a fantastic day so far – kiss!
So I’d like to propose a toast to my wife – the most beautiful bride in the world -
“Gemma!”
I love you so much.
Gemma and I would like to thank our parents for all their love and support.
Firstly I’d like to thank my parents for all their love and guidance during my life and making me the person that I am today. I think you’ve done a pretty good job
Thank you.
And on behalf of me and my wife we’d like to thank you for all the support you’ve given to us, and for welcoming Gemma into the family, and for the contribution that you’ve made to the wedding.
Thank you very much.
We’d also like to say another big thank you to my Mum, who we think you’ll all agree has done a fantastic job in making the cake for us today, and as a mark of appreciation please accept these flowers. And to my Dad, here’s a small gift just to say thanks for being such a great Dad.
Now I’d like to say a personal thank you to Mandy and Steve for welcoming me into your family, and Steve for your kind words before.
I know how much Gemma means to you both, so please, do not worry, I’ll take really good care of her! She is everything to me.
Again, on behalf of me and my wife, we’d like to say a big thank you for all the support that you’ve given to us in everything that we do, and also with your help towards the wedding.
Mandy, please accept these flowers as our way of saying thank you. And for Steve, we’ve got a little something for you too, just so you don’t feel left out!
Thank you both so much.
I’d now like you all to join Gemma and I in toasting our parents -
“Mums and Dads!”
I know that Gemma would like to thank her bridesmaids Kirsty and Lianne for their support today, I know how stressed she can get. She really has appreciated it. Thank you so much.
Also a big thank you to our beautiful daughter Ellie, and our nephew Dafydd for all the entertainment during the ceremony. We’ve got a little something for the two of you as a memento – if you’d like to come and get them.
We’d like to thank our ushers, Nick and Ian, who I’m sure you’ll agree did a fantastic job in getting bums onto the correct seats. Thanks guys.
As a way of saying thanks here’s a little something for you.
A final thank you must go to my best man Sam for firstly agreeing to be my best man and also for all his support up to and including today. I’ve known Sam for 21 years now since we met in secondary school, and during that time I’ve learnt that he has a lot of fantasies, which he believes to be true. It would be nice if you could humour him if he tells you any of his tales with a chuckle.
So without further ado, I’ll hand you over to Sam
Thank you all for listening and please, enjoy the rest of the celebrations.
Cheers!
