Over the Moon

By Gareth, June 10, 2009 15:56

handshakeAs you’ll be able to deduce from the title, I’m pretty happy!

Ecstatic in fact!

Today, I got offered a new job – which is a huge relief, with the uncertainty that has been hanging over us lately. I start on Monday, and I can say that I’m really looking forward to it.

My new position is an Application Engineer. I will be designing actuators for the automotive industry, yet another car part! A good thing about his job is that I will also be able to expand my experience with the project management side of projects, which I’m really looking forward to.

So, here’s to a new start.

Happy New Year

Our New Car

By Gareth, October 17, 2008 20:00

(Well, Gemma’s to be exact! :) )

Today was a happy day for Gemma. She has finally got her new car!

And, she is VERY happy!!!

It is a Vauxhall Astra 1.8i SRi (XP). And here it is in all its glory:

First impressions of the car are very good. Only time will tell how good a car it is, but I don’t think that anything will change Gemma’s mind about how much she loves her ‘little’ car.

Gemma’s Pregnancy – Week 32

By Gareth, May 7, 2008 21:13

There are only 8 weeks left until our new baby boy is born.

Everything is progressing as it should be, as we had confirmed today with an ultrasound scan. It was a growth scan to check that baby was growing as he should be, after a “soft marker” showed up at an earlier scan.

The scan showed that he showed no sign of the hypoechogenic bowel that was previously present, and also that he was on target for the size that he should be at this stage of the pregnancy.

Gemma is getting really uncomfortable with each passing day, having to carry all the extra weight around. It does make things a little difficult, especially sleeping at night. Not long to go now babe. It will all be worth it in the end.

If the extra weight wasn’t enough to stop Gemma sleeping properly, then the leg cramps certainly are. They strike at all hours of the night, which disturbs Gemma’s sleep even more than usual.

Each passing day makes me more and more nervous. It makes me nervous because within the next few weeks labour could start at any time. It’s in the back of my mind that I hope that the labour is not too quick, especially as I work about an hour from home.

You wouldn’t think that we’d done this before.

Gemma’s Pregnancy – Week 21

Gemma’s pregnancy has now past the half way stage.

Knowing this makes everything seem all that much closer. The time has flown by since we found out that Gemma was pregnant. It really doesn’t seem that long ago at all. That means that its not long to go until all those sleepless nights again!

There is not huge amounts of news to report at the moment. The baby is kicking a lot more, he must be practising his technique for the football team. Gemma’s bump is expanding quite rapidly now, and she is looking really glowing with it.

I’ve finally managed to scan our latest ultrasound picture from our 18-20 week scan, which you can see now below.

18 Week Ultrasound scan

He is looking a lot bigger now, as you’d expect, and here is what he looked like at 12 weeks.

The other day we went to Mothercare to get a few things for the baby’s bedroom. We got a wall border, curtains and a lightshade, plus a Grobag (sleeping bag, for those not in the know) for the baby to sleep in when he’s big enough. Once we’ve finished transforming our garage, we can finish off the bedroom.
