This is just a quick post to say a great big “Well Done” to Ellie.
Last night was the first night that she has slept through the night without the need for her to wear training pants to bed. She woke this morning and there was no sign of any accidental wetting. This is a big moment!
The previous few mornings had been promising. Ellie had woken with her training pants dry. So, we decided to take the plunge and let her go to bed without her training pants.
And it all seems to have gone very well. We’ve put a protector on the mattress for the inevitable accident that will no doubt happen during this exciting time.

The potty training is going really well.
Its now been 2 weeks since we started on the road to no nappies, and Ellie has really taken to it. It is really great to see, because if we’d mentioned the potty before Ellie would have told us where to stick it.
As you would expect there have been a few accidents, but these are few and far between. Ellie is really finding her feet with using the potty. She seems to be recognising the signs that she needs to use the potty.
It’s quite funny to watch her when she’s on the potty as Ellie will give you a commentary about what’s going on, “it’s coming, it’s coming” she’d say, and then when she’s finished she’ll give herself a little cheer, “yay!”
We’ve also got her a trainer seat for the toilet, which she is not scared of using either. The good news with this also is that she is getting into the habit of wanting to go on the toilet when she wakes up in the morning, and last thing before she goes to sleep.
Ellie is still in her nappies at night but they don’t feel as full as they used to so she’s getting used to holding it in a bit now.

Ellie has finally started potty training.
Its only this week that we’ve got her to show any interest in it. Any previous attempts to encourage her to use the potty have been futile, and there’s been no way we were going to force her.
Anyway, while Ellie was at playgroup with Gemma the other day, Ellie asked to go to the toilet, which is a first. So when they got back home, Gemma put Ellie into some knickers to see how she’d get on. There have been a few accidents, but also, encouragingly there have been times when she has actually got on the potty and had a wee!
Ellie seems to be taking it all in her stride, so hopefully it won’t be too long until she’s in knickers full time. She likes wearing them, as she initially refused to put her nappy on to go to bed. One step at a time……..
